Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Generator Operator to manage and maintain our client's diesel generator systems. The Diesel Generator Operator will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and performing basic maintenance on diesel generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply to our facilities. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of generator operations, troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities:
Generator Operation: Operate and monitor diesel generator systems to provide continuous and reliable power supply in case of electricity outages or as required.
Start-Up and Shutdown: Safely start up and shut down diesel generators according to established procedures, ensuring proper load distribution and synchronization.Monitoring and Diagnostics: Regularly monitor generator performance, voltage, frequency, and fuel levels. Quickly identify and troubleshoot any abnormalities or malfunctions and take corrective actions.
Fuel Management: Monitor fuel levels, arrange for refueling as needed, and maintain accurate records of fuel consumption.
Routine Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, coolant levels, and belts. Replace filters, fluids, and other components as per maintenance schedules.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to alarms, power disruptions, or equipment failures, and take appropriate actions to restore power and prevent equipment damage.
Data Recording: Maintain accurate logs and records of generator operating parameters, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines related to generator operation, fuel handling, and maintenance activities.
Collaboration: Communicate effectively with maintenance teams, supervisors, and other relevant personnel to coordinate maintenance schedules and address any issues.
Training: Assist in training new personnel on generator operation, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, electrical systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Generator Operator or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of diesel generator systems, including startup and shutdown procedures, load management, and basic maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with generator control panels and monitoring systems.
- Attention to detail and strong record-keeping abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Physical fitness to perform tasks that involve lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to generator operation and maintenance.
Additional Information:
- This position may require working in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
- The role may involve exposure to noise, fumes, and various weather conditions typical of a generator operation environment.
